Instructor Mary Pegg, 2nd Degree Black Belt


Instructor Mary Pegg is currently a registered 2nd Degree Black Belt in Kung Fu with the United Martial Arts Association of America. Instructor Mary Pegg grew up on a Midwestern beef & grain farm and was an avid 4H member, Camp Counselor & Livestock exhibitor. An art major in High School, she attended a program for gifted artists at Kansas State University.

Her path of spiritual learning took her to Oakland, C.A. with the great Hindu Sait Swami Muktananda, where she studied Eastern spiritual teachings and received the spiritual name Parashakti.

While in Santa Monica, she found her way into the L.A. music scene and was invited to photograph the POLICE for A&M records at their London Branch, IRS Records. While in London, she modeled professionally for Premier Models on Goose Street and lived just around the corner from Abby Road Studios in Sait John’s Wood, where she also had the experience of documenting the Rolling Stones in Leeds. Wanting to continue her studies in Eastern Philosophy and continue her photographical pursuits, she returned to American and enrolled in the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. While still on European Time Zones, she met a young unknown musician named Johnny Depp and encouraged him to work on some promotional photographs for his upcoming audition in Nightmare on Elm Street, which were included in her graduation portfolio. Her graduation portfolio also included concert images of The Who while performing live at the Tangerine Bowl. When she graduated from the Art Institute with an Associate Degree in Photographic Arts & Sciences and won the coveted VIDDI Awarded for best music video that was aired on the south Miami TV Channels.

After graduation, Instructor Pegg was employed as a photographer, Talent Agent & Casting Director for Models Exchange, which included training and casting talent for the films and television shows being filmed at South Miami at the time, for instance, Miami Vice for Dee Miller Talent. Family responsibilities took her back to the Ohio Valley, where she raised her family on a Llama farm, including adopting her youngest daughter, Isabella from China November of 2003. While raising her family and Llamas, Miss Pegg also operated Earth Angel Photo Studios & Talent Agency for local and national print & television ads, and with the local theatre & ballet companies.

March 2005 brought Instructor Pegg into the United Kung Fu Academy to train the children in the Little Tigers program under the direction of Master Instructor Jerry Dibble. She earned her 1st Degree Black Belt in 2006 in the Southern Shaolin Tiger & Crane, and her 2nd Degree in 2007 with Grandmaster Sung Baek. She is currently stalking to refine her skills teaching and to earn her 3rd Degree, and studying Archery with Zen Marksman.
